Flashcard FAQ

OK, I started the program – so what do I do now?

You’ll see a term displayed with its match hidden behind a card – this is the flashcard screen.  Click either the term or the match to reveal the hidden one; click “Next” or “Prev” to move through the words.

What’s this “Term->Match” button do?

This button lets you vary your studying experience by swapping the hidden info between term and match.  (The actual button text will vary depending on which product you have.) Go ahead and click it – it’s easier seen than explained.

What’s this “Theme” thing?

The terms are divided into groupings, or “themes”, to make studying easier.  (Use the “<<” and “>>” buttons to change themes.)

I’ve already learned some of the terms in this theme, how do I just work on the ones I don’t know?

Click the checkbox marked “I know this” for the words you already know, then click the “Exclude known terms” button to only show those that still need studying.  (You can return to the original list by clicking “Include all terms”.)

How do I lookup a particular term?

Some of our Smartacus PDA products also offer a Find feature. Click the “Find” button in the upper right corner to bring up a picklist of all available terms. Scroll through the list and select a term to bring it up on the flashcard screen.

Are flashcards all there is to this thing?

Some of our Smartacus PDA products also offer a Concentration game. For those products, click the program title to bring up the menu and select Concentration for some studying variety.  You now have eight pairs of terms/matches scrambled together, and it’s your job to find them!  Click two cards to find a pair, and try to remember where they are if you get them wrong.

How do I change the word list used in the Concentration game?

The theme shown on the flashcard screen is the one used in the Concentration game.  Go back to the flashcard screen and change it there, and return to the Concentration screen -- you’ll get the theme you want.
